Some thoughts on the rising worry of the Wuhan Flu/Corona Virus

Johnny has been following, closer probably than the average American, the troubling outbreak from Wuhan Province in China of the Corona Virus that has now spread throughout China and has popped up around the globe. Many of you who regularly read this website as well as the old Jersey City Desk know, Johnny's wife passed away from Avian Flu A or commonly known as 'bird flu.' Johnny has spent a lot of time learning about the Zoonotic diseases (diseases that pass from animals to humans) and he can tell you one thing, prevention is the only way to deal with something possibly deadly like this Corona virus.

Mrs. Johnny passed away in her sleep early in the morning on a Monday. She'd gone to her personal trainer at Base in Jersey City on Sunday. That evening was also the Patriots vs Eagles Super Bowl and she ate like one would at a Super Bowl party. By morning she was gone. Never felt the need to take more than a usual dose of Delsym cough syrup.

What can we learn? There is NO wellness program at work or flu shot at Walgreens that is going to protect you from these strange strains of flu. By the time you have your blood work sent off and it comes back, the flu has already mostly run it's course. By the time you have it kids, it's too late, you have it, right? Sadly, about the only real thing one can do is to follow suggestions about not getting these diseases, like washing hands constantly after going out and doing anything. Don't touch your mouth, nose or eyes before washing your hands.

Where did Mrs. Johnny even get the Bird Flu? Who knows but therein lies his point, you never know who you're walking by at the Target or riding next to on a train. PREVENTION is your best and really only way to game plan an outbreak like this.

Oh, btw, if you're going to get a medical mask to wear, the common cheap-o's don't stop what you want it to stop, spring for a better kind.
