Oscoda wins their first playoff game 54-0

The Owls, at home, won big over the St. Louis Sharks. Next week all the huge scores and shutouts are on the line folks. Beaverton is a tough foe and the Owls will be on the road. The first real test is on the horizon next weekend. Go Owls!

The Owls did it again tonight fans. They went out to Houghton Lake and came back 24-6 winners and finish the regular season 6-0 with another league title in hand.

Yes, they gave up 6 points tonight. The first points the Owls have allowed all year ranking them #1 in Michigan in points against for the regular season. Not to shabby.

After much cajoling from Johnny, the MHSAA rankings FINALLY get it right

You'd think an undefeated team whose closest game was a 46-0 win over an arch rival would get some press in this state. There is no other team playing a "full Covid schedule" who is undefeated and has given up ZERO points. Yet, the MHSAA and a lot of online Michigan high school football "experts" (ie read fanbois) had completely overlooked the Oscoda football team come rankings time.

Week after week Johnny would point out the obvious to the powers that be and they simply buried their heads in the sand. 

Until this week! Oscoda is finally (and rightfully) ranked in Division 7:

Oscoda has done it again, another North Star League title, another win, and another shutout. The Owls thrashed Alcona 62-0 tonight to move to 5-0. The Owls this year have been unstoppable and they've not allowed a single point.

It's too bad for the Oscoda boys team the goofs that rank the high school teams based off of this metric and that other team's result and if a team was good 20 years ago and won a state title they still somehow still get deference when it comes to rankings and news coverage use their "metrics" to leave Oscoda somehow unranked. Say it with Johnny now, the MHSAA rankings are trash and those covering the sport for the Freep, Detroit News and MLive only care about covering the big name schools in large population centers. Hell, MLive has a section of their website for every portion of Michigan but the northeast lower peninsula.  If you're above Bay City and this side of I-75, piss on you. They mailed it in long ago.

Our amazing Owls finish the regular season at 3-1 Houghton lake this upcoming Friday. Last regular season game before the playoffs.

It's taken a while friends, a long while but time heals all wounds. One of Johnny's best friends at Eastern Michigan was a Bootsy Collins fan. No, not fan, Superfan. Maybe superfan isn't strong enough. His place, where many in the group hung out had a bitching sound system as our host was a musician. All the time, every time, Bootsy Collins or George Clinton based music. Not only did he get tired of it after while, he's pretty sure what he was seeing, looking at it through 2020 goggles, was horrid cultural misappropriation.

Did you know then, the rock and roll icons Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo, hit makers, radio stars and football stadium fillers are still not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You can say what you want to about the Hall and what it does or doesn't represent but when Pat Benatar's songs are compared roundly to a lot of current inductees, this is a gross oversight.

Like the train between Oscoda and Tawas, the Oscoda boys football teams just keeps driving ahead. Tonight the Owls defeated Montabella HS in Blanchard 58-0 bringing their record to 4-0. Oscoda has truly been the beasts of the northeast this season winning games, 58-0, 50-0, 46-0 and tonight 58-0. 

See a trend? Alcona is next up in the cage next Friday night.

Over at the Owls' Nest tonight Oscoda really gave arch-rival Tawas what-for with a resounding 46-0 whitewash of the still politically incorrect Braves. Why, they turned Tawas into Owl pellets is what they did. 

Oscoda moves to 3-0. They have just crushed all-comers this season; 58-0 over Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, 50-0 over Rogers City and tonight over Tawas 46-0. Oscoda plays next week at Montabella High School in Blanchard. The Mustangs are 0-1 and will play just their second game Saturday.
