Johnny knows rock and roll is a cottage industry of what if's. What if Buddy's plane didn't crash? What if Brian Jones hadn't been kicked out of the Rolling Stones? What if ___________ didn't overdose? Tonight is one of those what if's (and since it's his birthday you get to listen lol) Johnny would love to explore in that, how much more amazing would The Pretenders have been considered if James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon didn't overdose. This was an incredible band with something to say at the height of their power and popularity when drugs took their awful toll. Sure the band soldiered on for many years and have made some hot songs since then BUT, well, that's where the what if comes in...

Johnny is gonna go with the Music Series tomorrow night for 3 very important reasons: 1) Movie night ran long because of the amazing Saint Peter's game. 2) Johnny wants to get online and enjoy some of that Saint Peter's fun and 3) Tomorrow is Johnny's birthday and he can play anything he wants.

How about those Saint Peter's Peacocks!?! Johnny was enraptured by Jersey City's little Saint Peter's as they took on college hoops giants Kentucky and beat 'em in overtime. Johnny has actually seen Saint Peter's play at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City so this win was extra fun.

Now, how about some top-flight Irish music with The Dubliners and The Pogues with the classic 'Irish Rover' to take us out tonight on this St. Patrick's Day 2022.

ELEVEN you say? ELEVEN records or tapes for just a dollar? WTF, what kind of sorcery makes a deal like this possible? That sorcery is known as the TV Guide and magazines of the 1970's where these ads ran. Some offered 13 for a penny. What planet even is this? Of course you had to purchase 3 more albums or tapes at regular club prices which was like taking on another mortgage but whatever, that'll sort itself out in TV Guide court. Tonight's Music Series is drawn from this list. FYI, Johnny was not going to post 11 songs tonight if you thought that sounded like a logical idea.

Starting us off tonight it's the Steve Miller Band and 'Serenade' from the masterpiece that is Fly Like an Eagle.

In the mid-70's there wasn't a Sears you couldn't go into and start horsing around with all the stereo equipment and putting the number 10 to the test. For some odd reason (Not so odd if you have Johnny's memory) he recalls such an afternoon interlude with a Pioneer home system when this song, 'On the Border' came on and WOW, it makes an impression all these years later. From the amazing album Year of the Cat, you should own it.

When one gets an opportunity to include Rush in the Music Series that should always happen no matter how much you'll pay for those records and tapes at full club pricing. 'Spirit of Radio' taking us out tonight.

The Oscoda girls basketball team won the district title in 2019 and 2020. They were expected to last season as well but Covid canceled their season early. The best way to remedy that is to not only come back and win another district title but to do it in convincing fashion over arch-rival Tawas. The Lady Owls really took it to Tawas with a 70-29 victory tonight. Mia Whipkey had 29 points and 12 rebounds for the Owls.

Oscoda plays in the regionals vs Lake City at 5:30 pm Tuesday in Houghton Lake. GO OWLS!
