Which planet takes almost 30 Earth years to orbit the sun? Saturn. Now you know.

Putting another marijuana canard to rest...

With the soon-to-be five marijuana dispensaries in the Oscoda and East Tawas area Johnny thought he'd pass this along and help put asunder another marijuana prohibitionist/Henny Penny 'argument' they have. You know, the one where once Mary Jane becomes legal every kid starts smoking it (Unless they attend a local church regularly) and loses their minds? Well folks, that's just simply not true. A good read when you have some time this Memorial Day. Maybe spark one up and remember the John Lithgow role in Footloose.

Wishing everyone a reflective Memorial Day

Here's to the memory of those who fought and died or were injured under the American flag.

Sorry confederate trash, this day has nothing to do with you.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with CRACKER!

Someone in the band Cracker owned the Peter Frampton album 'Frampton Comes Alive' and wore it down to the vinyl. Call it a hunch. Call it an educated guess. Call it a probability. You know why.

Cracker and 'Get Off This' kicking things off quite nicely tonight. Happy Memorial Day weekend to all our roaring cats and kittens out there.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with AEROSMITH!

As Johnny is fond of saying, "Sometimes you gotta rock." Enter Aerosmith and the classic rocker, 'Back in the Saddle' to put the money where Johnny's big mouth is.

Let's rock together now shall we?

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with DEL SHANNON!

How about we end this Memorial Day weekend Music Series with Michigan's own Del Shannon and the timeless classic, 'Runaway' and feel good about things.

Yes, let's.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with SMASHING PUMPKINS!

Order up on a great song put to a flawless video. Sometimes MTV worked, 'Tonight, Tonight' was sure one time it worked as intended.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with DIRE STRAITS!

You can go so many ways with this phenomenal band but Johnny's of the mind its always best to start at the beginning....Way on down south, in London town...

'Sultans of Swing' up next so get those headphones ready kids.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE STEVE MILLER BAND!

If you were in 8th or 9th grade and you wanted a ride rather than riding the school bus that meant riding with Johnny's best friend Roger. It also meant Roger picked the music and the hangers on could just deal with whatever came on the 8-track player. Now, he only had 3. Pink Floyd Animals, Changes One Bowie & The Steve Miller Band's Fly Like An Eagle. These are all tip top albums but there was a time Johnny is pretty sure he could have played drums in a cover band for any of the three from sheer repetition.

The 8-tracks, they just keep playing and playing. 'Serenade' taking us out tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with PATSY CLINE!

OK, this is where fights start if one doesn't follow along. Johnny is pretty certain that the great Patsy Cline had the bestest and most purest voice in contemporary music history. Of course Aretha Franklin had the most powerful, that's not what's being debated.

Good?

Patsy Cline and 'Walkin' After Midnight'

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with JANE'S ADDICTION!

Wanna know how you have a good new neighbor? Way back in the day in Ypsilanti a new woman moved in across the hall from Johnny and Mrs. Johnny. One of her first acts to make nice was to ask Mrs. Johnny if she'd like to go see Jane's Addiction performing in Detroit.

Friendship done right. To that end, so is this song, 'Been Caught Stealing' blowing up your headphones.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with ELLE KING!

Johnny just loves this bouncy rocker and it more than fits the mold of a song you'll be humming or singing after you leave here tonight. 'Ex's and Oh's' rocking us out tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with MORRISSEY!

Well you're not getting a Morrissey standard, you'll get the rockabilly version of 'Sing Your Life' and you'll like it.

Actually you'll probably love it and say thanks in comments. It could happen.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with FLORENCE BALLARD!

You've heard Johnny by now explain why he thinks Florence had a better voice than Diana or Mary but she didn't have a Berry. We won't travel that road this evening.

Florence Ballard (Who came up with the name The Supremes) and 'Goin' Out of My Head'

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with ROBERT PLANT!

Johnny still rues the day he missed the chance to meet Robert Plant in Nashville. Johnny and Mrs. Johnny were enjoying a fine pork-based breakfast at the Loveless Cafe when the finished and decided to go for a walk outside. If you've never been to the Loveless Cafe, it's ringed behind it by a semi-circle of shops. Johnny was in one of those shops and the clerk behind the counter was on the phone explaining something quite excitedly to a friend. Johnny asked what was up and she mentioned Robert Plant had just come in the store. She even showed Johnny the sales slip with his signature. This was a time Robert Plant really was in Nashville recording his Raising Sand album with Alison Krauss.

Such a shame Johnny and Mr. Plant never got to meet. Johnny is just filled with song ideas for rock legends.

No not really.

Sad news on the East Tawas food front...Hsing's Garden is closing

Their post on Facebook tried to be positive, ie "We'll be back at some point" but it didn't really read like that, it read as more of a goodbye. We'll share their Facebook post and let you decide what they may mean.

Still, Johnny has eaten Hsing's many times and has usually had a pretty good go of it. The Chinese buffet a few doors down on the other side of the Bay Party Store? Not so much.
