Funny thing about Steve Miller and the Music Series; It seems when a summer holiday rolls around like this one, and there is a need for some good old American rock and roll music, he fits the bill. 'Jungle Love' taking us out on this Memorial Day weekend.

Quite the announcement this week about the first super concert tour of 2024 with Journey and Def Leppard headlining meaning they will be playing all the dates while Heart, Cheap Trick and this guy here, the Steve Miller Band will play on certain dates. In honor of such a good lineup let's start off with 'Jungle Love' this evening.

ELEVEN you say? ELEVEN records or tapes for just a dollar? WTF, what kind of sorcery makes a deal like this possible? That sorcery is known as the TV Guide and magazines of the 1970's where these ads ran. Some offered 13 for a penny. What planet even is this? Of course you had to purchase 3 more albums or tapes at regular club prices which was like taking on another mortgage but whatever, that'll sort itself out in TV Guide court. Tonight's Music Series is drawn from this list. FYI, Johnny was not going to post 11 songs tonight if you thought that sounded like a logical idea.

Starting us off tonight it's the Steve Miller Band and 'Serenade' from the masterpiece that is Fly Like an Eagle.

If you were in 8th or 9th grade and you wanted a ride rather than riding the school bus that meant riding with Johnny's best friend Roger. It also meant Roger picked the music and the hangers on could just deal with whatever came on the 8-track player. Now, he only had 3. Pink Floyd Animals, Changes One Bowie & The Steve Miller Band's Fly Like An Eagle. These are all tip top albums but there was a time Johnny is pretty sure he could have played drums in a cover band for any of the three from sheer repetition.

The 8-tracks, they just keep playing and playing. 'Serenade' taking us out tonight.
