Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with NIRVANA!

Johnny will pose that the the first 30 seconds of this song are among the very best song beginnings in rock history. Not many songs he continually hits the rewind button on to start over. Johnny has a very good friend who was a Blackhawk helicopter pilot in service of his nation. Johnny asked one day if he could play cool music while he flew. It was indicated that was known to happen. A CD was made with this track as the first song and was very much appreciated.

'Breed' getting us all kinds of going tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE KINGS!

Here we go, 2 songs in one. That's Music Series thrifty. Or, maybe it would be if anyone was paying for any of this....ever. Johnny digresses. If you were anywhere near Johnny when this song came out, chances are he was making you listen to a cool station that would play it. No iPods or Walkmen, not when this was released in 1980. If you wanted to hear this outside, the radio it was.

'This Beat Goes On/Switching to Glide' up next and headphones are suggested on this nugget.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with PAUL MCCARTNEY & WINGS!

Johnny sure loves him some Wings in all their iterations. One could say Johnny's love of Wings had him digging further into Paul McCartney's catalog and back into The Beatles (Johnny had always been a Stones guy) so it's funny how music works. Taking us out tonight, 'Junior's Farm,' a great 70's rocker.

Time for Oscoda, After Dark

Monday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with COWBOY JUNKIES!

It's only gonna make Johnny itchy and irritated if he spends too much time on the fact Spectrum couldn't have butchered a problem worse if they'd tried last Thursday. This kept him without internet until Sunday and Johnny's own OCD about the Music Series going up on Friday and if something unforeseen happens on Saturday made him all the twitchier. Well, lemonade from lemons because Johnny has an exceptional Music Series lined up tonight.

Anything worth doing...

Kicking things off on a Monday night with Cowboy Junkies and 'Common Disaster.' For those keeping track of such twaddle, Margo Timmins is Johnny's favorite singer named Margo.

Monday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with STEALERS WHEEL!

WTF, don't go to that zoo. Jeepers. Those are some mangy -- oh wait, it's Stealers Wheel imagined as animals. Johnny almost got up and ran away from the imagery.

Still, it's a great song. 'Stuck in the Middle With You' batting second tonight.

Monday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with the B-52'S!

You really can't go wrong sending a Music Series out on the B-52's because chances are people are about to get themselves an awfully hip earworm. Out we go a bet-ter place than this, 'Private Idaho'

It was one year ago today friends Johnny started sounding the Covid-19 alarm bells

Now, it wasn't known as Covid-19 then, and Johnny's not posting this to look right about his worries last year at this time. He simply wants to put a time marker in the ground and say it was about one year ago this started to become a thing. How all our lives have changed.

Last year's warning flag can be found here.

Johnny would like to apologize for the lack of a proper Music Series this weekend

For this, the entire Oscoda City Desk family can thank Spectrum. They managed to drop Johnny's internet (and phone) connection Thursday afternoon and didn't manage to get it back up (sans phone) until 11:30 this morning.

Welp friends, Johnny took names and times and the lies they told. He's going to put this all together like he's done before working at an agency, kind of a time breakdown of a how a company freely lies, insults and destroys customer relationships. Johnny has written award-winning timelines and Spectrum is about to get another one in the next few days. It will be truthful, it will be brutal and it will show how Johnny is pretty certain Spectrum games their customer service numbers. Twelve calls will do that.

Oh, did Johnny mention, his proposed solution Thursday night, one he was dismissed out of hand for, turned out to the the fix Spectrum went with. Nothing like doing their jobs for them.

We should have a Music Series up tomorrow, our first Monday Night Music Series ever.

 Time for Oscoda, After Dark

On MLK Day, how about some wise words from the man himself...

Posting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech has long been a tradition on the Ypsi City Desk, the Jersey City Desk and yes, now the Oscoda City Desk. No reason to stop that tradition especially this year.

Sunglasses were originally designed for Chinese judges to hide their facial expressions in court. It's a fact.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with NEW ORDER!

Johnny is certain everyone heard the remake of this classic in the Wonder Woman '84 movie. If you haven't heard the original you're in for a treat, if you have heard it before you know it's perhaps the fastest 7 minutes 26 of any song. 'Blue Monday' getting us going on Friday night.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with LUCINDA WILLIAMS!

Johnny pays attention to things. He listens. Sometimes he realizes someone has clearly stated his position in smoother words than he's thought of. Such is the comment under this fabulous song, 'Can't Let Go':

Tony Sandvig take a bow

This came out in 1998 and is still a great tune but has only 15k views and 119 likes. YouTube came out in 2005 and probably has 15,000 videos of dudes punching each other in the nuts with millions of views. It's a strange time to be alive.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!

We haven't had Bruce on for a while so why not give us a real rocker to go out on tonight. 'Badlands' is such a song...

So, so, we're gonna play it now.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with JERRY LEE LEWIS!

You know the routine by now, push the furniture back, secure the rugs, and make sure your hi-fi record player won't skip this 45 as you shake all around your living room. Kicking off the first Music Series of 2021 with the Ferriday Fireball, Jerry Lee Lewis and 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On'

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS!

Maybe it's the vibe of this one, or that fantastic harmonica but this has always been a staple of Johnny's Tom Petty collection. He just loves it.

Is the video disturbing? Oh absolutely. But the SONG...

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with DR. JOHN!

Johnny sure has opinions. He sure has opinions about the un-American, seditious, right-wing terrorists who had ANY hand in what happened Wednesday at the Capitol. They should all be in jail with those that aren't in jail swinging from a gallows. You've crossed THE line in America idiots. You attacked the Republic itself, not some imagined voter fraud that never took place and you only believe it because of your gullibility.

While these are all valid points you may be wondering where this is going music-wise. You know Johnny has a point. It would appear that some of these douche-canoes are now realizing what they did was a felony caught on multiple cameras. Scads are losing their jobs. One such loser posted a long message about how sorry he was he did this. It was the single worst decision of his life. He mentioned his employer was deciding his future with the company which is probably the only reason he fessed up. He did say something so stupid it truly renders his words meaningless. In his mind now, "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time." No, no you weren't asshat, you were exactly where you meant to be when you traveled to Washington D.C., went to the Trump rally, them marched the 1.5 miles to the Capitol, over dead bodies, through tear gas, through mayhem. Wrong place at the wrong time, fuck you.

It does however give us an idea for an awesome song to wrap things up by tonight. It's the Dr. John classic, 'Right Place Wrong Time'

Just a little Johnny editorial on today's right wing sedition and terrorism

When Jimmy Carter lost, he started building homes for low-income Americans.

This has been a Johnny editorial on today's right-wing sedition and terrorism.
