Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with CHUCK BERRY!
As Johnny mentioned on Twitter his double bypass surgery will take place May 15. So, for the next couple Music Series' before that date all the rules are out the window and Johnny's just gonna play music that makes him feel good and that he loves. When you're getting a zipper you get to pick the tunes a little more liberally that Johnny normally does in looking for some variety.
Starting tonight off is Mr. Chuck Berry with 'Brown Eyed Handsome Man' which was one of the first Chuck Berry songs beyond 'Johnny G. Goode' he'd heard. Johnny began a lifelong love of the storytelling in Chuck's music. A lost art indeed.

King made such a declaration to The Drifters and had to follow through with his threat to leave. Don't cry for Mr. Ben E. King, he did alright with 'Stand by Me', 'There Goes My Baby, and this his first solo hit, 'Spanish Harlem'

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with ROD STEWART!
So Johnny is on a Brandon Schools bus along with his losing 8th grade basketball team. The team pretty much always lost so there's no real trip through the memory banks to see if Brandon had won that night. The bus ride home was a long one, about an hour and a half and something happened that had not happened before when the team had lost, the coach allowed the AM radio to be played on the ride home. Good old CKLW was playing the hits and then comes 'The First Cut Is the Deepest' by Rod Stewart. The song was popular and always on the radio so a few people were softly singing along.
Boy, add ONE letter in ONE word and sing that with the boys in the back of the bus just loud enough for the coaches to figure out what was being sung and when you get back to the school you have to put your sweaty stinky uniform back on and go through a late night conditioning stint.
Johnny blames Rod Stewart.

Yes music fans, The Tubes are on the extensive list of bands Johnny has seen live. They are however the only band he's seen in the Upper Peninsula, C.B. Hedgecock Fieldhouse on the campus of Northern Michigan University to be exact. They're also the only band ever with a lead singer named Fee.

MDOT has announced the passing lane between Oscoda and Tawas will be closed...temporarily
The last couple years have seen sewer and drain work ruin traffic patterns along US-23 in Iosco County. Well get ready for a real kicker, MDOT has announced that for two weeks in July the passing lane between Oscoda and Tawas will be closed for MORE sewer work and re-routing of electric cables.
Just wonderful.
