Northern Roots is no more -- They are now Puff Cannabis Company
Johnny just got the word that Northern Roots, AuSable Township's favorite dispensary, has been purchased by Puff Cannabis in order to "Offer better products and better deals in line with shops in Bay City and Detroit..."
Johnny was assured his favorite smiling faces would still be working there so that's a bonus.

Happy Birthday Mom! That's right, Johnny's mom turns 92 today. Johnny and his sisters were told late last April to prepare for her passing as things the doctors said just weren't going to continue on much longer.
And here we are in late January 2022. Truly a blessing for one tough lady.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with MEAT LOAF!
So sad to wake to the news today that Meat Loaf had passed. Johnny was a fan. No, not necessarily of the overplayed and overhyped ballads that sold so well but there were gems Johnny loved. This is sure one. Yes, tonight is about Meat Loaf but how about a thought for the incredibly talented Ellen Foley who plays opposite Meat Loaf in the back seat and on the microphone. Without her this song just isn't the same. She told the story that to get the desired effect for the make-out session going on Ellen and Meat Loaf really were mashing it up doing their parts for this song.
The timeless classic, 'Paradise By the Dashboard Light' starting us off tonight.

Bob Seger concerts at Pine Knob weren't just concerts, they were much much more. They were the best nights of summer for friends, fun, music and cold beer and cheap wine. They simply were moments in time so many would love to revisit. Maybe that's why today's announcement of Pine Knob becoming Pine Knob again was so nice. The one and only Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band kicking things off with 'Mainstreet'

Did J. Geils even play anywhere other than Pine Knob? Pretty much if you grew up in the Detroit area and told people you had seen the J. Geils Band live people asked which night you saw them at Pine Knob. 'Night Time' is the right time and also our second song on a Pine Knob remembrance evening.

Johnny saw the Moody Blues at Pine Knob compliments of his parents, nee mom. Johnny's mom handed him an envelope which knowing the family's financial situation wasn't going to be one of those envelopes. What was in the envelope were two pavilion seats for a band Johnny's mom must have been paying some attention to in hearing the positive commentary on them.

Well, see, Johnny was going to put up a Late Night Open Thread on NYE but he got some miserable food poisoning which knocked him out of the game for 3 days. No fun, at all. We'll get it right tonight.

Movie night with Johnny's girlfriend was the 1983 classic Valley Girl with a Nicolas Cage so young he could still spell Coppola. It's a good enough movie. Romeo and Juliet is an old story and one that has been told many times many ways. Never with such a fantastic soundtrack however. This IS a Top 5 soundtrack for Johnny. It's that good in his opinion. On this soundtrack one song has always stood out as Johnny's fave, the Payola$ and their minor hit, 'Eyes of A Stranger'
Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with MODERN ENGLISH!
Just as the Earth and the moon are forever connected so too is this song by Modern English, 'I Melt with You' and the movie Valley Girl. Can't think of one without the other. Kind of works the same with 'Don't You Forget About Me' and the Breakfast Club.

Dimes in jukeboxes, hellz yeah. Unless you're The Flirts and are sitting on that ONE song you just dona wana hear.
