Sadly this week Mike Pinder, the keyboardist and the last surviving founding member of the Moody Blues passed away at 82. Johnny knows when he posts a Moody Blues song on the Music Series he's going to get all kinds of numbers on it as that is one rabid fanbase. To those showing up here for the song, yes, Johnny HAS seen them live, in 1981.

Hockey fans lost a great announcer yesterday and Johnny lost his hockey voice of a generation with the passing of Mr. Bob Cole, longtime CBC play-by-play man on Hockey Night in Canada. If you've ever watched the playoffs on CBC you've probably heard this magnificent voice.

See, this right here was what made AM radio great. You could hear a hot song like this 3 or 4 times a day, learn the words, appreciate the tune and if you grew tired of it (It happens) you could pop on another AM radio station doing much the same thing. All your favorites, every day. You even got to call into the station, get on the air, and request your song.

A few particulars about today's eclipse

Today is the day and this afternoon will bring a solar eclipse that is near totality here in Oscoda. Johnny will list times and what you can expect to see as Oscoda is a touch off being in the totality range. 

*Don't be Donald Trump and stare at the eclipse and point at it like nobody else knows its there.

*Johnny has read it's also a bad idea to point your cell phone directly at the eclipse for the same reason you shouldn't stare at it with your eyes. Eclipse glasses can be used as a filter over your phone camera lens.

Johnny will be out on a trail somewhere around the AuSable River to try and get some cool pics. If he does get one or two you'll be the first to see them dear readers.

The idea for The Police tonight was Johnny's. The song? One of Mrs. Johnny favorites so he'll honor her memory with a little 'Tea in the Sahara' to start off tonight.
