Time for Oscoda, After Dark

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with JAMES BROWN!

Way back when, one of Johnny's closest friends was about to have her first baby. She had everything for the nursery and even had a little CD player/boom box thing for baby music and lullabies and so forth.

Uh huh.

Welllll now you let Uncle Johnny go ahead and make a couple CD's for the baby to listen to and learn what this crazy world is all about. 'Get On Up' was the third song on the first CD.

That kid today? So cool he pisses ice cubes. Thanks Uncle Johnny!

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with TEARS FOR FEARS!

You know, if Johnny were ever to publish a list of his favorite 50 songs this one might eek in. It's be a bubble song but to even be considered that high? Yeah, Johnny loves this song a LOT. 'Pale Shelter' up next tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with BARRY WHITE!

Ladies and gentlemen, The Walrus of Love taking us out tonight which means all day tomorrow you'll feel like one sexy motherfucker. If not come back and listen again. Barry White with 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe'

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with TALKING HEADS!

Sending this one out to all the AuSable River marathon racers starting in Grayling tomorrow evening and heading all night here to Paddletown USA. Early finishers should be coming in around 11am Sunday.

Let the race begin! 'Take Me to the River' is an obvious stepping off place this evening.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE FLYING LIZARDS!

Produced for cents on the dollar it's the cheapest and one of the best remakes ever. The Flying Lizards with 'Money (That's What I Want)'. Deborah Evans-Stickland on lead vocals for those scoring at home.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with GREEN DAY!

A wholly under-appreciated band Johnny thinks. Johnny has all their albums and has enjoyed Green Day greatly since day 1. Honest rock and roll is always welcome. 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' taking us out tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE TING TINGS!

Johnny caught this act back when in Jersey City at Liberty State Park. What a great set. Energy to burn people. 'Shut Up and Let Me Go' kicking things off tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE SPINNERS!

Originally the band was called the The Domingoes and got their start in Ferndale MI and would later be referred to as The Detroit Spinners. What a great catalog too. They still tour today.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with THE WHITE STRIPES!

Let's get it! 'Fell In Love with A Girl' taking us out tonight.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with U2!

Breaking with the usual tradition of having something upbeat and brassy to start the show Johnny is going with "brilliant introspective" over bouncing around your room to start off tonight's Music Series with 'All I Want Is You'

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with CREAM!

Johnny double checked and this song has never been used in the Music Series in Ypsilanti, Jersey City or Oscoda, until now. 'White Room' is a Johnny fave which makes it so crazy it's never been featured.

Correcting wrongs here.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with ALICE COOPER!

Alice Cooper, always a fine choice to take a Music Series out the door. You know it'll be good and in many cases, downright catchy. This here is one of those fancy songs with the parenthesis, 'Clones (We're All)' which just makes it extra classy.

It was so good to see so many of our old friends back up here this weekend wasn't it?

Happy Independence Day to all our roaring cats and kittens!

Johnny loves holiday posts. So many are based on traditions and carrying forward fun we've had previously to the current day. To that end, The Legend of Jimmy's Truck is one of those clips. Patriotism and excitement meet poor poor planning.

Without further ado, a holiday classic!

World UFO Day was yesterday but do you know of Oscoda's UFO history?

The Detroit Free Press ran a story on World UFO Day on the four most famous UFO sightings/cases in Michigan history and wouldn't you know, Oscoda made the list.

Before you click the link locals, let's have some fun and test your memories. This event took place in:
A) 1975
B) 1967
C) 1981

Of course it took place at Wurtsmith, UFO's love air force bases, everyone knows this. Do click the link and if you have a UFO story to share that's what comments sections are for.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with FLORENCE + THE MACHINE!

Johnny wonders which seven Devils Florence is singing about in 'Seven Devils' because Johnny can only name one or two. They're not that exciting of a team. No real superstars.

Great song nonetheless. Kicking off a big long weekend now which should give you ample time to come up with all seven. Feel free to list them in comments.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with NICK LOWE!

Fuck it, let's have some fun! 'I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock And Roll) fits that to a T. Johnny is going to use the studio version because, well, the video is just so bad. Johnny loves Nick Lowe so so much but yeah, that video.

Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!

Back in 2008 when Mrs. Johnny had accepted a job Audible Inc. in Newark and Johnny made his move, he used this song, 'Thunder Road' to 'announce' the fact he'd be moving when he sent it around his Ann Arbor office.

Only one person got the meaning. *sigh*

Here's that great sounding 4th of July weekend rocker someone asked about.
