Nessel filed an October 2020 lawsuit in circuit court alleging that Asahi Kasei Plastics North America, a plastic resin manufacturer based in Fowlerville, had released illegal levels of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) into a swath of land near Brighton.
It'll cost Asahi Kasei Plastics $3.2 million dollars all in all for their poison-n-go biz plan.
Granted, Nessel can't do much about the U.S. Air Force who jeffed up Oscoda's water and ran off like cowards, but it's nice to see a public servant serving the public.
With new strains and variants coming out seemingly daily Johnny would like to link to an article he wrote in January of 2020, before anyone knew much about Covid at all Johnny kind of had his finger on the pulse of this. Sadly, he could see what was quite possibly on the way. Story here.
Let the drunken hordes descend upon East Tawas! Johnny will see you around town in ET this weekend and hopes to be telling tales of the sea via Johnny's girlfriend's dad and buddy who come up and hit the bars.
It's no secret that Oscoda voters aren't keen on voting for millages and tax hikes for roads around here. Johnny is now into his fourth winter up here and his theory is that the poor performance (consistently) by the Iosco County Road Commission tells Oscoda voters that there is no guarantee for upkeep on the roads taxpayers would be asked to pay more for. Oscoda voters aren't blind. They see snow still plugging roads three days after a storm.
The powers that be in Oscoda Township should be making a bigger stink with the ICRC if they ever expect better roads around town.
What the hell Johnny? What happened last weekend? Well friends Johnny just didn't have the will nor want to play DJ last weekend being out of town at his mom's memorial. This one time family business won out. That being said it's another Friday and its time for more music. 'Zero' kicking things off tonight.
We haven't had one of Johnny's favorite Canadian acts in a while. Johnny is very positive on Canada seeing as how his dad's side of the family hails from there and Johnny's grandfather was a Mountie. Up next the brilliant Sarah McLachlan and 'Into the Fire'
Johnny heard from a long-time friend this week that sadly her sister had passed away suddenly while on vacation. Now, Johnny is well schooled in such matters sadly and he offered what words of comfort he could. He also knows this friend drops by the City Desk every so often and some Bon Jovi would be just the thing to make her feel a little better for a little while.
If ever 1982 were represented in moving pictures this video would be pretty spot on. Still, a great song by an underrated band. 'The One Thing' getting us off to a great start tonight.
'The Big Payback' is the kind of song a DJ used to put on to take a bathroom break. That's what 90's country music is for, not JB. Smoke 'em if you got 'em, hips, funk, you know the rest...
Johnny isn't much of a singer. Don't take that wrong, he tries. He'll sing anything and knows all the correct lyrics. He knows when the backup singers some in and when the chorus stops. Quality of voice however isn't ever going to be confused with one Johnny Action Space Punk. There is one song that he can halfway not make a hash out of, and in fact he can make a pretty good go of it and if he ever had to do karaoke he'd hope this one was available.
Johnny has been running somewhat frazzled the last couple days as his mom passed away. Not to worry, it wasn't sudden, she was in no pain and if you believe in small mercies this was one. Dementia had long ago run it's awful course and well, mom was 92, a good long fulfilling life.
So, Johnny will try and get a Music Series out for everyone but he's not sure when.
