Illinois trailed by 1 point and head coach Bret Bielema sent his kicker in for a winning 50+ yard field goal with 14 seconds to play. The kick missed, badly, however Rutgers coach Greg Schiano had called a timeout just before the FG try. Seeing the poor kick Bielema sent his offense back out to try and get a first down. Instead the pass from Luke Altmyer to wideout Pat Bryant went the whole 40 yards into the end zone for brilliant victory for the Illini.
